June is an action packed one in terms of spreading awareness. With Pride Month, Men’s Health, PTSD Awareness and National Safety, there is a lot to learn, discover and discuss.
Pride Month
Pride Month runs throughout June as a way to educate people regarding the LGBTQIA+ community, as a way to express who you are in the community, breaking down historical and social barriers, looking back on what has happened and how improvements can be made for the future. A time to remember those who paved the way, the trailblazers of the community so that a better life and world could be had. Many people gather in different towns and cities for Pride parades – the most famous being in Brighton, often featuring live music, performances and bright colours. Men's Health
Men’s Health runs throughout June and aims to encourage men to improve their lifestyle and overall health. Diet and exercise are the main focuses through the month but there are also social aspects to improve your mental health. Examples of bettering your physical health are going to the gym/working out at home, getting your steps in by walking or taking up a new sport. Examples of bettering your mental health are getting together with friends, taking up a new hobby and meeting new people or reaching out to people you may not have spoken to for a while. Knowing your family health history, focusing on bettering yourself and getting tested means you will be one up on your health and have a better understanding of it.

PTSD Awareness
PTSD Awareness runs throughout June and helps to spread awareness on the condition itself and how to access help and resources if you, a loved one or someone you know is suffering with it. People who suffer from PTSD may experience intrusive thoughts, wish to avoid different people, places that may trigger any upsetting memories, feeling tense or have angry/aggressive outbursts. If you or anyone you know is suffering from PTSD, please do not hesitate to get help. Charities such as PTSD UK offer resources, run events and provide treatment. National Safety
Lastly, National Safety Month runs throughout June and focuses on making a change and a difference in your home, workplace and community. Making sure you have a first aid kit ready for when needed at home, report any repairs in your local area to your local council through their website or phone, make sure you are up to date on any work safety policies and procedures so you know what to do in case of an emergency. Keeping yourself quizzed up and up to date in terms of safety will extend your life and make you and others around you safer.
