11th to 17th May 2026 is Mental Health Awareness Week. Mental Health Awareness Week exists to highlight the importance of everyone’s mental health, any challenges that people may face in their day to day lives that affect their mental health and the constant stigma around the “taboo” topic that people don’t often discuss.
It is a time to get involved, get talking and spread awareness and support. Maybe strike up a conversation with someone you haven’t spoken to for a while, check in on your friends you don’t always see and speak to your family near and far. Anyone you know could be suffering with their Mental Health and at times, a quick chat or a catch up is all someone may need to brighten their day or week!
Raising awareness and speaking out about how you feel is an excellent way to break the stigma surrounding mental health. You can also choose to donate towards different mental health charities such as Mind who are advocating for change and support, with the help of donations or volunteers.
If you need any advice, someone to talk to or want to learn more about different topics, click on the link below to take you directly to the Mind website.
If you need to speak to someone, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, Samaritans are there to help you. Whatever you are facing, please do not hesitate to call them on 116 123.
