Every year since 2012, the NHS has led a nationwide health campaign regarding smoking cessation titled Stoptober in which current smokers commit to stopping smoking for the entire month. Their aim is for participants of the campaign to stop smoking for 28 days, thus leading them towards a better lease of life. By stopping smoking for the entire month of October, people are 5 times more likely to stop for good. Stoptober has helped, since starting back in 2012, over 2.5 million people attempt to quit.
Total Wellbeing in Luton, based at Hightown Gym and Wellbeing Centre, are big advocates towards smoking cessation. They offer a 12-week programme, helping users of the service with personalised behavioural support and access to stop smoking aids. Specialists offer one to one advice with each patient, customising the programme to the user’s needs, giving them support and motivation to help them quit for good.
They offer face to face appointments, at different locations across the town, suiting you wherever you are. They run from Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm. They also offer an evening clinic open until 8pm (adjusted hours on Saturday)
During this month or just in general, if you are looking to join millions of others in stopping smoking for good, please self-refer yourself through the link here, text the word QUIT to 60066 or contact them on 03005554152.
