On a very mild and clear Sunday morning on the 26th of April, over 59,000 people travelled to London, ready and raring to take on the 2026 TCS London Marathon, running from Greenwich to The Mall. One of the people taking part was Vicky, one of our practice nurses who I am sure many of our patients know and love. With a small team of supporters cheering her on every step of the way, Vicky crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 5 hours and 7 minutes. Pictured on this page is Vicky’s supporters.ml
Vicky was running for the charity Stand-by-me, a charity based in Hitchin, focusing on supporting families with children and young people in Stevenage and North Herts through bereavement. This charity offers support through volunteer led sessions, providing a safe space for children and young people to share what they are going through, how it makes them feel and for them to be listened to. Parents/carers can take part in counselling so they can discuss how they are feeling, how grief is affecting them and any issues they may have.

Everyone at the surgery, Vicky’s family and friends and patients are incredibly proud of her and her amazing achievement to raise awareness for an important charity and cause.
